The house is designed for an art collector and the person who work with him. The house is separated in two part, main house and the second house. The main house is for an art collector to collect his art work which is base on the base geometry. The favorite artist of his is Bruce Gray. The house itself is an art gallery which is open for public.
The house contains 4 stories.
The First story is classified as the private space. In the first house the kitchen, toilet, laundry room and the storage room is there. The house also has the connection to the second house. The main connection is that the two houses share the same courtyard. And the alighment of the door ectry the courtyard is in the same position. This is to link and unide the two house together in the contrast of the whole separate structure. However to create a stroger link the wall hsa connected the house together as to show tha the house is sharing the courtyard. The two person can meet up and discuss their work there.
The second story, for the first house is a full public space. The whole level is the exhibition area where the art collector show his art work. The whole space has the wall in the middle. This wall is to create an exciting atmosphere for the visitor. Make the space seem more interesting and inviting visitors to go thourgh the art gallery which is also lead to the staris up to the next level which is also an art gallery. In this space the big pieces of the art work will be presented since it is able to take up to7 metres high work. In the second house this is a private area contains bathroom and laundry faciliry and also the passage to the next story.
The third story is a smaller art space. The art piece such as painting and small pieces of work can be shown. Classified as conbinded public and private space. Because this space also contain the small courtyard where the owner will come and spend time when he need the private time. And it is in contrast with the smaller gallery space.FOr the double house it is totally opposite concept, the house is the whole private space. There is a bedroom and also a small balcony for the person to look out the view and spend the private time.
The top story is a private space for the owner. Bedroom and office are there. Living room also contained and connected to the outter balcony which will allow the person to look out the view widely.
The circulation tool of this house is the stairs. The stiars are located in different conner according to the space they are going through.
The design of the house whole the key from siza house is that the private space and public space around the courtyard. Also the funcamental piece of geometry use is also similar and been taken form the study of size house. In this aspect it is also relate to the art work which is the art collector is passion about. The art work consists of basic geometry and the most one that is shown is the triangle and reactangle therefore the house is presented to be the addition and subtraction of the two basic shape. The cut angle of the house is to follow the alignment of the site plan and adjasion building. The two line paraelle to each other to create a realationship between the two.
